Lumeso - Automated order entry for flat glass companies

dcupl accelerates implementation through direct data provision - for fast MVPs, efficient UI tests, and seamless scalability

The flat glass industry is characterized by complex, often manual ordering processes. Lumeso brings new speed and precision to this data-driven area with an AI-based SaaS solution - revolutionizing order data capture: Email-based orders are automatically processed, structured, and directly transferred to ERP systems. For maximum implementation speed and flexibility, dcupl was used: The data integration platform made it possible to work with real data already in the conception phase, launch an MVP in record time, and iteratively optimize the frontend - completely independent of final interfaces. Thus, a vision became a multi-award-winning application with measurable customer benefits.

Lumeso is an AI-based SaaS solution for automated order data capture in the flat glass industry. The solution was awarded the German Innovation Award in two categories in 2025 - a clear signal for its relevance and innovative power.

A key technical component of the implementation was dcupl: The data integration platform, based on Google Spreadsheet, made it possible to work with real data from the beginning of the project, build a scalable data architecture, and implement MVP features in record time - without dependence on a central backend and without relying on maintenance interfaces for data maintenance.

The flat glass industry is characterized by highly individualized products and ordering processes. Glass customers typically submit their orders by email, often with different attachments and formats. The consequence: Employees on the part of flat glass processors have to manually read out, interpret, and transfer content into ERP systems - a time-consuming, error-prone, and no longer contemporary process.

While large customers were typically already connected via classic EDI interfaces, this form of implementation often did not pay off for many smaller business partners. Lumeso wanted to close this digital gap - with a universal approach to automated capture and further processing of order data.

The Initial Challenge

The goal was to design a solution that…

  • Achieves a significant acceleration of order data capture,
  • Minimizes manual steps and sources of error,
  • Creates full transparency along the order process,
  • Connects ERP systems from various manufacturers without problems,
  • Intelligently anchors the domain knowledge of the industry in the system,
  • Complies with the highest data security standards,
  • Offers an intuitive and, above all, high-performance user experience, and
  • Can go live productively within a very short time.

These requirements were technically and organizationally challenging. The high variability of input data - unstructured email content, inconsistent file formats, different language versions - posed major tasks not only for the AI models but also for the user interface and data management. Industry-specific special cases, individual workflows, and company-specific ERP processes had to remain flexibly mappable.

In addition, despite the high pace of innovation, a reliable roll-out scenario had to be established: Proof of Concept, MVP, validation - everything had to happen within a few months, without resorting to unrealistic dummy data or having to wait for the development of complex interfaces.

The central challenge was therefore ...

How can an intelligent, production-oriented system be created that works with real data before backend interfaces exist - and still meets the highest demands for performance, scalability, and user-centricity?

Less typing, fewer errors, more speed. That is our goal for the flat glass industry.

The Solution

Frontend First: start production-oriented - scale flexibly

With dcupl, a dual-speed approach was pursued. Instead of waiting for a classic backend, the relevant data was initially maintained in Google Spreadsheets. These data sources were directly integrated, modeled, and validated via dcupl - a production-oriented MVP could thus be realized within a few weeks.

The solution was thus testable early, evaluable, and verifiable with stakeholders, whereby spreadsheet resources can be seamlessly replaced by APIs and specialized maintenance interfaces at any time as needed in the further course of the project - without having to redevelop modules and functions.

dcupl Search & Filter Engine as a central element

The application logic was supplemented by dcupl's Search & Filter Engine, which can be used to performantly search and filter large amounts of structured data - offline if necessary (e.g., by article features, areas of application, or availability).

Validate UI/UX before the backend is available

Thanks to the early modeled data structure, UI components, user guidance, and dashboard logics could be implemented and tested directly. The frontend implementation ran completely Frontend First - with continuous user feedback and iterative further development.

German Innovation Award 2025

In May 2025, the solution was honored twice at the German Innovation Award - in the categories Industry Specific and Service Software as well as Transformative Solutions. This underlines the high market relevance and innovative power of the solution.

The Impact

The implementation of Lumeso marks a paradigm shift in digital order processing in the flat glass industry. While comparable systems often take months or even years to reach market maturity, an MVP could be realized within a few weeks, partly due to dcupl's data integration platform.

The combination of strategic design, user-centric implementation, and flexible data logic led not only to an accelerated go-to-market but also to a solution that was productive from day one and can be continuously scaled. This resulted in significant advantages:

  • MVP live in a few weeks, without a finished backend - a decisive advantage in an innovation-driven market environment.
  • 10x acceleration of order data capture through AI-supported data parsing, automated plausibility checks, and seamless transfer to ERP systems.
  • Significant reduction of manual effort, as unstructured order information is automatically standardized and pre-processed.
  • High data quality and consistency, because potential sources of error are eliminated already during reading - regardless of the original format.
  • Full scalability through retrofittable interfaces (EDI, API, ERP) that can flexibly react to new customer requirements.
  • Reliability and robustness through dcupl's functionality to operate simultaneously with static and dynamic data sources - ideal for hybrid migration scenarios.

The result: Lumeso creates measurable added value for flat glass companies - in efficiency, service quality, and process reliability. At the same time, the solution sets a new industry standard in terms of data integration and intelligent automation.

We developed LUMESO because orders in the flat glass industry need to be processed faster, error-free, and more productively. With LUMESO, that’s exactly what we deliver!
