Linz-based Startup Revolutionizes Software Development: Cloud Platform dcupl Cuts Project Runtimes in Half.

A dried-up IT HR market and growing cost pressure in app development: This is the market environment into which the Linz-based startup dcupl pushes with a new platform for super-efficient application development and the promise to cut "time to market" in half. The background of the founders lends credibility to the claim.

Linz, March 7, 2023 - The lively digital landscape in central Austria has added another startup, one that promises answers to burning economic questions that software developers and their customers are currently facing.

dcupl enters the scene as a cloud-based developer platform offering tools, shortcuts and methods that can spectacularly reduce project runtimes, required man hours and costs. It's a compelling promise in an economic environment where app developers need to bring apps to market faster and faster, with ever-decreasing budgets and manpower reserves. A look at the background of the founders and the development history of dcupl lends credibility to this promise:

dcupl is the third spin-off launched by the Linz-based digital pioneer Netural, following the online product configurator Roomle and the content management system Storyblok. Both predecessors have kept their promises and made spectacular careers.

Much like Roomle and Storyblok, dcupl has emerged from the daily professional experience of a digitalization service provider: The story starts with a brief to develop a sales app that had to map an enormously wide range of products and the accordingly enormous amounts of data in a handy, clear and pleasant-to-use app. The project was successfully completed in record time, because the development team had found an innovative approach to data handling and user testing along the way.

In the almost ten years since, this approach has been honed in numerous projects, growing to become a cloud-based service that renowned international companies such as adidas, Silhouette, Swarovski and voestalpine routinely use.

Now Netural CEOs Albert Ortig and Stephan Lechner, together with their long-time employees Dominik Strasser and Gernot Bernkopf, are opening the dcupl platform to developers around the planet. They face solid prospects for success, if you take sister company Storyblok as a benchmark: It was voted the world's best system in its class by the trade press last year and counts 110,000 enthusiastic users worldwide.

Dcupl - the streamlining toolbox

Dcupl is a SaaS platform that builds on a decade of experience in streamlining development projects. It contains tools that have proven their potential in a wide range of use cases, and is the ideal online toolbox for the development of high-performance, data-intensive business applications. In response to the current market situation, the focus is on advanced web applications, fast, efficient development processes and a convincing user experience.
Its basis is the "dcupl approach" with its three basic principles:

  • "Frontend First" ensures the quality of the final product: Based on representative data and data volumes, app development can be accompanied and efficiently secured by user tests from the earliest project stages on.
  • "Dual-Speed" relieves the IT resources on the customer side: With dcupl, the development process can start without prior deep integration into the existing IT system landscape. Integration only takes place after successful user tests.
  • "Composable Architecture" dramatically increases work efficiency: dcupl is a building block system that allows developers to compile lists and overviews including filter and aggregation functionalities without having to reinvent the proverbial wheel over and over again.

All in all, dcupl promises to cut time to market to half, with noticeably reduced personnel deployment and dramatically reduced project costs.

"With dcupl, we relieve IT departments and immediately deliver real data. We offer a solution that simply and flexibly builds on existing structures," comments Stephan Lechner, who has accompanied the dcupl development from the day 1.

Another advantage is that, as a software-as-a-service, dcupl saves investments in the company's own IT infrastructure - helpful in today's digital strategies, which have to navigate a tremendously dynamic environment, and always stay one step ahead without being able to foresee the scope of trends and innovations.
